The Journal of Quantum Science and Technology (JQST) is committed to the highest standards of publication ethics and follows the guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), including its Core Practices and flowcharts for handling misconduct.

Duties of authors

  • Submit only original work that has not been published and is not under review elsewhere.
  • Report data honestly. Fabrication, falsification and selective reporting are misconduct.
  • Cite the work of others accurately. Copying text or ideas without credit is plagiarism.
  • List as authors only those who contributed substantially to the work, and agree the author order before submitting. Changes to authorship after submission need the written agreement of all authors.
  • Declare all funding and any financial or personal interest that could affect the work.
  • Tell the editor promptly about any significant error found in a submitted or published paper.

Duties of editors

  • Judge papers only on their merit and fit with the scope, regardless of the authors’ identity, institution, nationality, religion or gender.
  • Keep submitted papers confidential.
  • Declare conflicts of interest and pass papers to another editor when one exists.
  • Investigate suspected misconduct fairly, following COPE guidance.

Duties of reviewers

  • Review objectively and promptly, and only within their expertise.
  • Keep papers confidential and never use unpublished findings.
  • Declare conflicts of interest and decline the review if one exists.
  • Report any suspected plagiarism or data problems to the editor.

Handling misconduct

Concerns about a submitted or published paper can be sent to editor@jqst.org. The editors investigate following COPE flowcharts, give the authors a chance to respond, and may reject the paper, publish a correction or expression of concern, retract the article, or inform the authors’ institution.
